Dive Stars

Since 21, I've always found solace in the cozy, often poorly lit corner of a good dive bar. And I've been a fan of NBA basketball since well before that. But, it wasn't until recently that I found myself conjoining these two loves of mine in a rather unexpected way (for me, at least). I'm the farthest thing from an artist or an illustrator, and, yet, here we are.

Using the cocktail napkin and the circular imprint from the bottom of my pint glass as my starting point (hence the rounder-than normal facial proportions), I've attempted to draw loosely accurate versions of some of the NBA's current and rising stars from memory. They're pretty bad, I know, but no one ever said they had to be good.
